Reliant Stadium is the place where the unveiling of several high definition video boards that have the capability to display over 320 images of J.J. Watts simultaneously were revealed to the Houston Community.
TSU-TV and other media were on-site for the initial unveiling along with Chairman of the Board of Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation, Edgar Colon and President of the Houston Texans, Jamey Rootes and Vice President of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Leroy Shafer who presented the boards.
The new boards are six times the size of the previous boards. To make sense of the technical specifications of the board, exaggerated comparisons were used. The boards were compared to items such as being able to view 280 horses on the screen at one time. The 52.6 foot tall and 277 foot wide screens could also display over 50 monster trucks at one time. J.J. Watts was also used to add a humanistic side to the explanation of the dimensions of the boards as well as a comparison of having 31,710 footballs on the big screen at once.
Trendsetting happens at a cost that is not cheap. It cost $16.5 million dollars to be able to claim the title of being the stadium with the biggest high definition boards. This trend is one that the Texans are setting on a field where the boards are a definite game changer and the Texans as a team are constantly changing the game.
Houston, Texas will be able to compete for future sports and entertainment related business as a result of these new mega-screens. In addition to new business and events, the stadium will be well prepared for the Houston Rodeo, Houston’s hosting of the NCAA in 2015 and The Final Four in 2016.
The stadium is one that can transition from one set-up to another in a matter of hours. Once the fans transition to the new changes, the stadium will again be ready for the fans to make the experience.
